Fertilization Method

Green Magic — Our
Proprietary Formula

Thirty years of field-proven experience distilled into a single, superior fertilization method. The gold standard for feeding trees and shrubs.

Why Green Magic
is Superior

1. Custom Ingredients

High-end, field-proven ingredients — the most effective available for making trees and shrubs grow and thrive. Guaranteed ingredients: nitrogen, phosphate, and potash, plus a proprietary blend developed over 30 years of certified arborist practice.

2. The Dispersion Concept

Scientists have explained for years that root systems extend far beyond the so-called "drip line" — perhaps by as much as 25% of the drip line's diameter. The area is much larger than most people realize.

Our conclusion: many small pellets widely dispersed on both sides of the drip line. This ensures coverage of where the roots actually are, while also helping aerate the soil and catch rainwater.

"The key for success is massive dispersion of high grade fertilizer in small amounts. This dispersion concept is field tested as the best method of fertilizing trees."

Green Magic Pellets vs. Tree Spikes

Traditional Tree Spikes

4.5 × 1.5" — too few, too concentrated

Traditional "tree spikes" are highly concentrated but too few per tree. They are installed too sparsely to properly access the large area where the roots are. Green Magic pellets solve this by distributing nutrition across the entire functional root zone.

Understanding the Root Zone

Healthy canopies depend on the unseen root system. Roots extend well beyond the canopy edge — and that's exactly where we work.

Beyond the Drip Line

Roots extend up to 25% farther than the canopy edge. We work the full functional root zone.

Ground-Based Only

All applications from the ground — no aerial lifts, no climbers, no saws on your site.

Soil Aeration

Pellet installation also aerates the soil and creates channels for rainwater absorption.

When to Feed

Timing and watering are critical to fertilization success. Here's what 30 years of field experience has taught us.

Best Timing

Early spring or fall when the ground is damp. Avoid feeding during summer heat and excessively dry periods.

Routine Schedule

Feed trees every 4–5 years to maintain health, particularly if surrounded by lawn or impenetrable surfaces (asphalt, roads, sidewalks).

Weak Trees

If the tree is very weak, fertilize anytime — but be sure to water thoroughly before and after application.

Watering is Essential

Pellets are only absorbed when diluted with water. Water thoroughly but infrequently rather than lightly and frequently.

How to Install Pellets

Install pellets on both sides of the drip line. Poke holes into the ground 4–6 inches deep using a tree feeding tool, steel rod, crowbar, or electric drill. Install the pellet leaving a slight opening for water and air.

Water before starting, then immediately after. Better to water thoroughly but infrequently than lightly and frequently.

Fertilization Only — By Design

To stay focused and efficient, we do not provide tree removals, pruning, storm cleanup, bucket truck services, emergency response, or stump grinding. If your trees need that work, we're happy to recommend qualified providers and coordinate fertilization timing with their schedule.
